Come Sit a Spell, Won’t You?

Once upon a time, folks in small towns and even neighborhoods in big cities spent lazy evenings and hot summer afternoons on their front porches, just shooting the breeze with friends and family.

We built communities, learned to work through our differences and watch out for each other.

And we told stories.

Building this little corner of the web is my way of trying to get a smidgen of that old magic back in my life, and I hope I can help a few others tap into some of that sweet nostalgia that reminds us of how good things can be.

I’m starting my journey here on Substack at a time, in March 2020, when the world is plunging into a period of uncertainty, and bad news threatens to swallow us up at every turn.

So …

For now, my intention is to bring one (very) short story to life here each day, and for each one to provide at least a bit of respite from the harshness of our times.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you’ll sit for a spell and soak in some of my tales.

Be well,

Hugh Wesley
